Canadian Configurations

Modified on Tue, 28 Nov, 2023 at 10:57 PM

By default, the system takes all payments is US Currency. If you do business in Canada, the portal can be configured to process in Canadian Dollars. Additionally, some address settings take place in order to accommodate Canadian Postal Codes. What you will need to do to take Canadian Payments.

All changes listed below are global changes and will affect your entire site. They should be done in coordination with testing of your payment systems. A misconfiguration could cause payments not to process.

Note that your processor must support this setting. You must test this configuration immediately after setting it. Many variations of Gateways and Processors exist. Concepts2Code can assist in confirming that your gateway and processor support these functions.

  1. Get a processor who can process Canadian Payments. We can refer you to one of our partners if you are looking for one.
  2. Set the Credit Card Currency Code setting to CAD.  This will tell the system to process in Canadian Dollars but will not update anything else in the interface.
  3. Set the Zip Code Label setting to Postal Code. This will tell the payment screens to prompt for a postal code instead of a zip code.
  4. Set the State Label Setting to Province. This will tell the payment screens to prompt for a province instead of a state.

Note: these settings may be restricted. If you do not have access to these settings, contact Concepts2Code.

If you need to change back to US Dollars, reverse the settings:

  1. Set the Credit Card Currency Code setting to USD.
  2. Set the Zip Code Label setting to Zip Code
  3. Set the State Label Setting to State.

ALWAYS TEST THESE SETTINGS ON ANY PAYMENT SCREENS AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN CHANGED.
